Network DC Engineer

• 12-Month Assignment with potential to extend

• Existing NV1 Security clearance required.

Green Light is a growing consulting organisation known for its work in Telecommunications and System Integration Services organisations. We have a requirement with our client partner for Network DC Engineer to join their team on a 12-month assignment with potential to extend. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on technical experience in VMware and virtualization platforms, Active Directory, and backup/archiving solutions, combined with proven data center engineering and operational skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day data center operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of physical and virtual infrastructure.
• Support VMware platforms (VCF, vCenter, NSX, vSAN) to enable scalable, secure, and highly available environments.
• Administer Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services, ensuring security, availability, and seamless integration across enterprise systems.
• Deploy, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Microsoft Server environments in production and development landscapes.
• Configure and manage load balancing solutions to optimize application performance and resiliency.
• Implement and support SCCM/MECM for patch management, endpoint deployment, and compliance.
• Oversee data center storage, backup, and archive solutions, ensuring compliance with retention and recovery policies.
• Perform system upgrades, patches, and lifecycle management across the data center stack.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure projects, migrations, and capacity planning.
• Maintain detailed documentation, operational procedures, and runbooks for supported environments.
• Provide on-call support and escalation management for critical data center incidents.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience in data center engineering and operations in large-scale environments.
• VMware VCF, vCenter, NSX, and vSAN.
• Experience in Microsoft Active Directory and Windows Server administration.
• Working knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
• Experience in load balancing technologies and infrastructure automation.
• Proficiency in SCCM/MECM for endpoint and patch management.
• Solid understanding of storage, backup, and archiving solutions in enterprise environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and incident management skills.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
