About the opportunity
We are seeking to establish a pool of suitably qualified applicants for the role of a Principal Policy Officer supporting the states agriculture industries to meet the future needs of the state. This role is Perth based, however, other locations in Western Australia will be considered.
There is currently one (1) permanent position in Perth Metropolitan Area specialising in horticulture policy, available for immediate filling, however, future roles may specialise other agriculture industries (grains, livestock) or agriculture generally.
As a Principal Policy Officer you will have a broad role in both responsive and strategic policy. You will lead the development, implementation and review of strategic policy and responses to enable achievement of the Department's planned outcomes, and alignment with broader government objectives, and support the branches response to ministerial business.
You will provide strategic evidence-based advice and support to the senior executives and to shape the Department's forward program for policy development and implementation.
We are looking for individuals with:
Demonstrated high-level policy support and advice, including strategic policy formulation, implementation, review and evaluation, particularly in complex policy contexts.
Strong ability to analyse and interpret complex policy and regulatory systems and translate insights into effective strategic action.
Proven ability to lead and manage staff and foster a collaborative work environment, including building effective working relationships with external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
