The opportunity:
Full-time position.
Level 9 salary $107,203 – $113,113 per annum, based on qualifications and experience.
Includes limited private use of a Council vehicle (up to 7,500 km per annum).
Located at our Eaton Administration Centre.
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Principal Planning Officer to lead and support a diverse range of planning functions across the Shire.
What you’ll do:
Provide expert planning advice to Council, the community, and internal stakeholders.
Lead and supervise the Planning team, fostering professional development and best practice.
Manage and assess development applications, scheme amendments, and structure plans in line with local and state planning frameworks.
Contribute to planning initiatives, including the review of Local Planning Schemes, Planning Policies, and Developer Contribution Plans.
Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to ensure integrated planning outcomes.
Prepare high-quality reports and recommendations for Council.
About You:
Tertiary qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
At least five years of relevant planning experience.
Strong knowledge of local and state planning policies, procedures, and legislation.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to lead within a multidisciplinary team and mentor staff.
