A Gold Coast based building contractor seeks to hire an in-house Accountant to manage its finances with a key focus in tracking the financial performance of construction projects, which includes handling complex billing schedules, job costing, and managing subcontractor payments. You will join a small, high performing team with projects in Burleigh and Main Beach on the Gold Coast.

Reporting to the Director of the business you will perform the following duties on a day-to-day basis;

Monitoring the accounts email inbox and responding to internal and external queries in a timely manner

Managing Accounts Payable (AP), including preparing batch payments and reconciling

supplier accounts

Effectively managing Accounts Receivable (AR), which involves tracking, invoicing, and collecting payments,

Use the Jobpac accounting software system.

Set up new suppliers and maintain database (Jobpac).

Processing payroll, superannuation, and PAYG

Track revenue and expenses for individual construction projects, ensuring each project remains profitable and on budget.

Monitor cash flow to ensure the company has sufficient funds to cover expenses, manage payment terms with subcontractors and suppliers, and avoid financial instability.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage budgets, and forecast future financial needs

Accurately track and assign costs to specific projects, which helps in assessing job profitability

Ensure compliance with tax laws and industry-specific regulations, such as those from the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) and prepare necessary financial statements and tax returns.

Financial Reporting: Prepare and interpret financial statements, profit and loss reports, and other management reports to provide insights into the company's performance.

To be suitable for this position it is anticipated that you will possess the following:

At least 3 years’ experience in an Accountants or Accounts role

Experience working in the construction industry in an accounts role

Possess a Bachelor of Accounting or alternative accountancy qualifications

Experience using Jobpac accounts software is highly desirable

Live on the Gold Coast

Have a passion for the construction industry.

Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
