Salary: VPS4 $97,955 - $111,142 pa + 12% super

About the role:
Reporting to the Team Leader, Waste Transport, the Senior Waste Transport Officer is a member of a team responsible for leading EPA's regulatory response to waste transport, including administration of Waste Tracker, aligned to EPA's strategic priorities to prevent harms to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste. This is an exciting role for an experienced regulator that wants to contribute to the success of the EPA as it enters a new era of environmental protection in Victoria. You will actively contribute to a positive organisational culture and ensure you achieve the highest standards of performance and integrity; and foster genuine partnerships across all levels of government, industry, and community to support the delivery organisational outcomes.
In this role you will:
Working under the direction of the Team Leader, Waste Transport, deliver the statewide waste transport compliance program; including administration of Waste Tracker, monitoring and reporting, joint roadside operations, inspections; infringements and other enforcement actions.
Supervise staff, leading and supporting the delivery of set organisational priorities, achieving high standards of performance, accountability, collaboration, ethics, and integrity; undertake program planning and reporting, and manage allocated resources and budget in accordance with organisational requirements; coach and support the development of your staff
Participate in the response to environmental and public health emergencies and incidents
Contribute to the upskilling of regional operations teams and other parts of EPA including by providing training and technical advice.
Skills and experience:
Senior level experience as a regulator
Experience and a record of achievement in effectively supervising staff to deliver positive organisational outcomes.
Knowledge of waste transport regulation
Ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives and procedures, to achieve optimal organisational outcomes
- Ability to implement performance management and development frameworks that manage staff performance, build organisational capability, and support individual development objectives; create and promote and environment that appropriately balances teamwork and individual accountability; provides timely, constructive, and objective feedback.
