Based in the Goulburn Valley, Bonnett’s Electrical is a well-established regional leader in electrical contracting. With a dedicated team of over 60 people, we deliver commercial, industrial, and domestic electrical services to a wide range of clients across the region.

The Role

This position offers a rare chance for a hands-on, strategic thinker who’s motivated to make a real difference. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll take ownership of back-office operations while supporting senior leaders to understand the numbers that matter and focus on initiatives to drive the business forward.

With your strong all-round business skills, you’ll lead finance, HR, payroll, administration, and IT functions—helping shape systems and processes that keep the business running smoothly and efficiently.

Every day will bring something different, including:

Reviewing costs and income to spot savings and new growth opportunities

Driving HR initiatives to strengthen our team culture

Negotiating supplier contracts to ensure quality and value

Getting the most out of existing IT systems for smarter decision-making

Leading and developing a small team of around five people

Providing timely, accurate advice to the Managing Director

Assessing financial risks and benefits of projects and initiatives

Managing cash flow budgets and preparing financial reports

Partnering with senior leaders to ensure consistency and accuracy across the business

Who are you?

No job’s too small or “below you” — you lead by example and aren’t afraid to get stuck in

You’ve got solid, practical experience in business operations, with a strong focus on financial and management accounting

Ideally, you’ve got a background or understanding of the electrical or trade contracting industry—if not, your eagerness to learn will take you far

People management and building a positive, motivated culture really energise you

While a CPA or CA qualification is desirable, it’s not essential—what matters most is your hands-on experience and business savviness

You’re tech-savvy and always looking for smarter, better ways to get things done

You thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and deadlines matter

You’re detail-oriented and able to break down complex info so it makes sense to everyone
