To ensure the success of this strategic initiative, we’re offering a number of brand-new, 2-year, maximum term contract roles to help maintain and strengthen our core business-as-usual (BAU) operations during this pivotal time.

In this role, as Assistant Accountant, you will support to the Aged Care and Community Services (ACCS) finance team through efficient and effective delivery of your allocated financial accounting activity functions in alignment with business strategy and direction.

The team covers Community and Residentially based financial activity and while you will develop a focus in these two areas, you will gain exposure to the breadth of the portfolio. You will be encouraged to challenge current processes and propose solutions, whilst working in a highly collaborative manner with cross functional teams.

Please note, this is a 2-year, maximum term contract position, with the potential for extension. Flexibility is important to us, and we know it is to you, too - this role supports hybrid working.

Your part in our UnitingCare team:

Undertake month end close processes and provide general ledger account analysis, reconciliation and verification activities as required.

Prepare Balance sheet reconciliations and resolve variances and assist with the BAS and annual Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) return.

Assist with preparation of financial reports for the organisation in accordance with relevant regulations, standards and contractual obligations.

Strong reconciliation skills covering historical Customer statements Collaborate with other Finance teams and diverse stakeholders where responsibilities are shared and foster positive and proactive working relationships.

Assist with internal and external audit activity as required.

Maintain key internal and external stakeholder relationships through effective communication and undertake project work as it arises.

What makes a difference for us?

Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business or related field, ideally with a CAANZ/CPA or similar membership (or studying towards).

Intermediate Excel capabilities, ideally with knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 and intermediate PowerBI and PowerQuery capabilities, with a high attention to detail and proven accuracy.

Proven ability to apply planning, coordination and time management skills to projects and keep to project and business deadlines.

Previous experience of working within the Not-For-Profit, Health or Community Services Sector will be highly regarded.

Sound communication reasoning and stakeholder management skills, verbal and written skills and ability to communicate with non-financial stakeholder.
