Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, the Financial Accountant will work closely alongside the Senior Financial Accountant. The purpose of this role is to support the effective delivery of fixed asset and project-based accounting within Capital and Projects.
Working in a highly collaborative manner with cross functional teams, the role will be responsible for supporting enterprise-wide accounting activities across Blue Care, UnitingCare Community and UnitingCare Queensland.
We are looking for a problem solver that understands the holistic view, to maximise business and team outcomes through actively contributing to process improvement in alignment with strategic direction.
Please note, this is a maximum 2-year contract position. Flexibility is important to us, and we know it is to you, too - this role supports hybrid working.
Your part in our UnitingCare team:
Provide financial accounting expertise and services
Identification and capitalisation of fixed assets
Cost review and categorisation through the lifecycle of projects
Processing of internal reallocations, recharges and depreciation
Support in managing lease accounting for property and fleet vehicles
Support in the asset verification processes
Support in the reassessment of useful lives for fixed assets
Support in the annual budget process for capital and project related activity
Manage balance sheet reconciliations for specific accounts to support month end and year end close
Support the external audit requirements for activities that fall within the Capital & Projects remit
Support in the creation and ongoing management of project reporting packs
Maintain policies and procedures relevant to the Capital & Projects responsibilities
Maintain key internal and external stakeholder relationships
Identify and develop solutions that remove inefficiencies and reduce complexity in Capital & Project processes and reconciliations
Support in the standardisation of policy and process across all business units to maximise synergies across the UCQ group
What makes a difference for us?
Tertiary qualification in accounting, business or related field
CAANZ/CPA or similar membership
Minimum 1 years’ experience post-qualification
Strong finance and accounting competency with a working knowledge AASB 116 (Property, Plant and Equipment) and 138 (Intangible Assets)
Understanding of best practice end-to-end finance processes, internal controls, finance and related system capability and automation.
Ability to apply planning, coordination and time management skills to projects and tasks.
Ability to work in a structured team and effectively contribute to outcomes using sound problem solving skills and a logical, organised approach to work.
Ability to translate and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
Intermediate Excel capabilities
High attention to detail and accuracy; pro-active approach to task
Desirable: Knowledge of Dynamics 365, Intermediate PowerBI capabilities, Experience in large complex organisations, Working knowledge of AASB 16 (Leases)
