To ensure the success of this strategic initiative, we’re offering a number of brand-new, 2-year, maximum term contract roles to help maintain and strengthen our core business-as-usual (BAU) operations during this pivotal time.

In this role, as Senior Financial Accountant, you will deliver core financial accounting functions in alignment with business strategy and direction.

Working in a highly collaborative manner with cross functional teams, the role will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of financial operations, to drive efficiencies and meet/improve stakeholder relationships and outcomes.

We are looking for an individual with a strong commercial background that know what good looks like.

Please note, this is a 2 year, maximum term contract position, with the potential for extension. Flexibility is important to us, and we know it is to you, too - this role supports hybrid working.

Your part in our UnitingCare team :

Develop, document and deliver the financial reporting month end close process per agreed timetable through the provision of high-quality financial accounting expertise and services.

Develop, document and maintain the chart of account cost centre and general ledger account structures within the financial management information systems.

Assist in the preparation of high-quality grant funding acquittals in line with internal and external deadlines, and contractual reporting requirements.

Deliver financial reporting that meets all relevant legislative requirements, accounting standards, regulatory requirements, funder’s requirements and/or approved policy.

Complete annual WorkCover renewal returns and support the internal and external audit activities.

Proactively recommend, contribute to, and drive improvements to financial controls, processes and procedures that meet business and contractual requirements.

Undertake contract reviews, interpret and recommend accounting treatment in line with accounting standards for grant income.

What makes a difference for us?

Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business or related field, ideally with a CAANZ/CPA or similar membership with minimum 5 years' experience within a project accounting role.

Intermediate Excel capabilities, ideally with knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 and intermediate PowerBI capabilities, with a high attention to detail and proven accuracy.

Proven ability to apply planning, coordination and time management skills to projects and keep to project and business deadlines.

Prior experience with acquittals/government grants, or the ability to read and understand key extracts of a contract.

High level of commercial acumen, exceptional attention to detail with the ability to demonstrate analytical thinking.

Previous experience of working within the Not-For-Profit, Health or Community Services Sector will be highly regarded.
