Australian Alliance to End Homelessness
Posted 3 days ago
About us
The Australian Alliance to End Homelessness (AAEH) is an independent champion for preventing and ending homelessness in Australia. We recognise that the scale of homelessness in Australia is both preventable and solvable – and, despite common misconceptions, we can end homelessness in Australia.
Since 2013, we have supported individuals, organisations, governments, and communities across Australia to work collaboratively across sectors to end homelessness – not just at an individual level, but systemically. Through our Advance to Zero Campaign, Allied Networks, and Training and Advisory Services, we are building evidence and partnerships to demonstrate that ending homelessness is possible.
We are now seeking a People & Culture Lead to join our team and help ensure our people practices reflect our values and support our mission.
About the role
The People & Culture Lead is a hands-on generalist HR role, providing operational support across the employee lifecycle. Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and leadership team, the role focuses on delivering consistent, compliant, and people-focused HR support to staff and managers.
Key responsibilities include:
Coordinating end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
Maintaining accurate HR records, contracts, and reporting.
Supporting a positive and values-driven culture through staff engagement activities.
Assisting with staff learning and development coordination.
Providing timely, pragmatic HR advice on policies, compliance, and employment matters.
Supporting wellbeing initiatives and contributing to a psychologically safe workplace.
Leading or contributing to HR projects and continuous improvement of people systems.
This is preferably a hybrid role, based in either Adelaide or Perth to support our leadership teams based there; however, a fully remote role may be considered for the right candidate. You will need to be comfortable working from a virtual/home office with limited accessability to standard supports of a physical office environment.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Experience in a generalist HR, People & Culture, or HR business partner role (minimum of 3–5 years).
Good working knowledge of HR practices, employment legislation, and industrial relations frameworks.
Experience across recruitment, onboarding, employee development, and performance management.
Ability to provide clear, practical HR advice to staff and managers.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a small, fast-moving team.
Confidence and competence to work autonomously in a standalone HR role
Tertiary qualifications in HR, business, or a related field are desirable but not essential.
What's in it for you
A flexible, part-time role (0.8 FTE) with hybrid/remote working arrangements.
Generous leave entitlements, including 5 weeks of annual leave (pro rata).
Access to salary packaging benefits up to $15,899 per annum.
An opportunity to play a key role in the national movement to end homelessness.
How to apply
Please attach your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your interest in the role and apply today.
Applications close: Friday, 4 October 2025 (ACST).
Please note: We may close applications earlier if a suitable candidate is found, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
