About the Role

The Learning Designer will work with senior academic leadership to provide expertise in evaluating, developing and implementing appropriate teaching and learning pedagogies, resources and technologies for various course delivery modes to enhance teaching quality and student learning experience.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Design & Development

Collaborate with Director of Learning and Teaching, Vice President (Academic), and academic staff on curriculum, assessment, and pedagogical approaches

Lead evaluation and implementation of current and emerging course design best practices and innovative pedagogical approaches

Develop innovative courses and subjects across delivery modes (face-to-face, blended learning, online)

Address rapidly evolving academic integrity challenges, particularly AI-related issues

Educational Technology & Resources

Implement appropriate education technology and contemporary curriculum design approaches

Develop learning objects to support student engagement

Train and support academics in implementing new educational technologies

Work with authoring tools (Articulate, iSpring, H5P, Captivate) and media editing tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva)

Quality Assurance & Compliance

Oversee implementation of subject outlines and teaching materials for all program levels

Ensure equivalence with partner institution materials and standards

Support maintenance of quality delivery standards meeting expectations of KOI Academic Board, partner institutions, and regulatory agencies

Ensure compliance with ESOS Act, National Code, Higher Education Support Act, and TEQSA requirements

Professional Development & Analysis

Lead professional development and training initiatives

Maintain current knowledge of discipline developments and learning trends

Analyse data, create reports, and make evidence-based recommendations

Monitor industry developments impacting program delivery

About You

Essential Qualifications & Experience

Postgraduate qualifications in Education, Learning Design, or related field

Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in learning design or educational development roles

Strong understanding of Learning and Teaching in Australian Higher Education

Knowledge of visa regulations (Department of Home Affairs) & ESOS regulations

Experience working within TEQSA standards and AQF guidelines

Minimum 2-3 years’ experience with international higher education providers

Essential Technical Skills

Experience designing academic resources for multiple delivery modes

Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard)

Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

Experience with authoring tools and media editing software

User-centred course design experience

Demonstrated innovation and quality improvement in teaching

Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills

Excellent liaison and interpersonal skills

Complex problem-solving and decision-making capabilities

Adaptability to dynamic working environments

Desirable Qualifications

Experience with information services and technologies (TechOne)

Data analytics capabilities

Knowledge of accessibility standards in educational technology

Professional membership in relevant educational associations
