About the Role

The Venues team at the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority is responsible for delivering new and upgraded Games infrastructure venues. The nature of the work of the Venues team requires extensive engagement with internal business units, delivery agencies, games partners, external organisations, and private sector advisors across a wide range of matters relating to the scoping and delivery of venues to meet Games and legacy commitments.

The Principal Project Officer will play a key role in the delivery of infrastructure projects within the Major Venues Program and will provide technical and policy advice and support across all projects. In addition to providing program wide delivery and support, this role will be the project interface with various key stakeholders in leading key activities and priorities. This will include but not be limited to advising on consultant reports, conducting procurement evaluation processes, facilitating design review processes, managing stakeholder relationships and supporting project governance processes to ensure venues are fit for purpose in legacy and for Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) is laying the foundations for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.

About your Responsibilities

Support the delivery and coordination of the Major Venues program through representing the Authority at key project governance forums and workshops providing advice and direction to support the effective delivery of the program/projects.

Facilitate procurement activities and ensure documentation created during tender and administration phases is fit-for-purpose and commercially and legally robust.

Manage competing project management priorities across the project lifecycle and contribute to ensuring project and program milestones are delivered on time and to budget by supporting project work streams and resource planning.

Work effectively with other members of the Authority’s team and key stakeholders with respect to existing and prospective Brisbane 2032 venues including venue owners, state agencies, local governments and Game partners in the delivery of the Major Venues Program.

Establish and maintain best practice standards and processes in line with the Authority’s Project Management Office frameworks to effectively oversee the Brisbane 2032 Infrastructure program including program controls, risk management, financial management, quality control, change control, assurance, governance and reporting on progress, costs and resources.

Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of overarching frameworks and consistent and robust project control mechanisms across the program to manage performance accountability, risk and issue management and project assurance.

Coordinate competing project management priorities to ensure project and program milestones and budget are met by supporting project work streams and resource planning

Prepare and contribute to executive correspondence and project and program reports in relation to the Games infrastructure.

About You

Project management experience including financial and budget control, scope management, risk assessment and mitigation, assurance, resourcing and program control.

Understanding of government protocols, processes and approvals and relevant impacts and opportunities related to procurement and project delivery.

Agile and flexible, with the ability to be highly responsive and resilient in a changing project environment.

Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Excellent problem solver with the ability to think through complex issues and information and identify solutions.

Understanding of government structures and processes as it relates to project funding and delivery (desirable).
