About This Opportunity

The UQ Respect Principal Project Officer is responsible for coordinating the delivery of end-to-end projects related to respectful behaviors and the prevention of gender-based violence. Working in a vibrant, values-led team, you will stay abreast of legislative changes and actively contribute to UQ's alignment with the upcoming National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence. This pivotal role involves conducting systemic reviews, program evaluations, and providing strategic guidance on new initiatives to the UQ community.

Key responsibilities will include:

Strategic Project Management

  • Coordinate the end-to-end delivery of projects of varying size and complexity, ensuring compliance with project methodologies and timeframes. You will be responsible for developing project plans, collating documents, and providing operational and high-level guidance on strategic initiatives.

Research and Evaluation

  • Conduct high-level evaluations, such as systemic reviews and gender-impact assessments, on UQ's approach to preventing and responding to gender-based violence. You will also undertake project-specific research and analysis to support evidence-informed recommendations.

Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting

  • Consult and network with internal and external stakeholders to support project delivery, promotion, and evaluation. This includes preparing well-written reports and proposal documents for internal committees and external regulatory bodies.

Policy and Program Support

  • Actively contribute to UQ's work in aligning with relevant legislation and the upcoming National Higher Education Code. You will also conduct evaluation on UQ Respect initiatives and support the embedding of evaluation into future programs.
About You

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with at least four years of subsequent experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and training. You should have demonstrated project planning experience, including the ability to prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines.
  • Proven expertise in undertaking research, data analysis, scoping, and evaluation in a large-scale setting. This includes the ability to provide high-level guidance on planning and strategic direction for initiatives related to gender-based violence prevention and response.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills that enable productive working relationships and the ability to communicate sensitive information with stakeholders at all levels of seniority. You should also have advanced written and oral communication skills.
  • Current knowledge of gender-based violence, student support, and workplace sexual harassment legislation and its application in practice.
  • Blue Card: Holder of a current Queensland Government Blue Card or the ability to attain one.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualifications in a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of the Australian higher education sector and current issues impacting student experience.
  • Experience in compliance, risk management and policy interpretation in complex organisations.

You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
