Operations Ground Support Officer – Cairns Airport

We are seeking an Operations Ground Support Officer to join the team at Cairns Airport on a temporary full-time basis. This role offers an immediate start and will run for a 3-month period (possible extension), Monday to Friday (38 hours per week).

About the Role In this position, you will play a key role in supporting ground operations to ensure the safe, efficient and professional dispatch and receipt of flights. Duties include:

• Providing logistical and administrative support, including passenger check-in, flight documentation and passenger airside escort.
• Assisting ACG staff, crews and passengers during aircraft arrivals and departures.
• Supporting baggage, freight and equipment loading/unloading.
• Assisting with aircraft/facility cleanliness and operation of ground service equipment.
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate activities.
• Maintaining accurate records to ensure compliance with aviation regulations.
• Upholding airport security protocols and monitoring restricted areas.
• Providing administrative support to base coordinators and engineering teams across Fixed and Rotary Wing operations.

What We’re Looking For Highly desirable:

• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing and towing heavy equipment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Dangerous Goods Certification.

Mandatory:

• Ability to obtain and hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
• Willingness to undergo pre-employment testing and participate in CASA’s Drug & Alcohol Management Program.
