Position Overview
As the Human Resources Manager, you will report directly to the Business Director and be responsible for leading the full spectrum of human resources functions across a dynamic, multi-disciplinary business environment, including manufacturing, rental, and project-based operations.
This is a critical leadership role focused on ensuring that HR strategy and operations are aligned with the organisation’s commercial and workforce objectives. Your responsibilities will span recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training, compliance, payroll advisory, injury management, and workforce planning.
You will also play a key role in fostering a high-performance culture, supporting leadership capability, and driving continuous improvement in HR processes and systems.
This is a full-time, office-based role with no work-from-home option, working Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Position Duties
Recruitment & Onboarding
Prepare and issue Letters of Offer and Employment Contracts/IFAs, ensuring approvals and compliance.
Coordinate advertising, shortlisting, and candidate screening across SEEK and other platforms.
Manage staff mobilisation processes, including medicals and compliance documentation.
Facilitate apprentice onboarding and trade qualification pathways in collaboration with department managers.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
Provide expert support to managers on all ER matters, including performance conversations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
Draft and issue formal documentation such as warning letters and performance plans.
Maintain accurate and compliant employee files and records.
Monitor workplace culture and support leadership in proactive engagement initiatives.
Training & Capability Development
Schedule and manage essential training (e.g., CPR/LVR) in line with role requirements and industry regulations.
Maintain the capability matrix to ensure visibility of skills gaps and compliance.
Coordinate the development and execution of annual training plans in consultation with business units.
Payroll Advisory & HRIS Support
Act as the key HR liaison to payroll, supporting fortnightly processing, reimbursements, and salary-related adjustments.
Monitor compliance in rostering (e.g Deputy) and scheduling practices across departments.
Provide advice on employee entitlements, award interpretation, and remuneration matters.
Upload payroll data and ensure integration with HR reporting frameworks.
Workforce Planning & Analysis
Collaborate with department leaders to forecast workforce needs and support resourcing strategies.
Contribute to breakeven point analysis and staff utilisation reporting to inform workforce efficiency.
Track key workforce metrics, turnover, and trends to provide insight for strategic planning.
Injury Management, Return to Work & WorkCover
Oversee WorkCover compliance, including annual renewals and claims management.
Manage injury reporting and liaise with external providers to coordinate rehabilitation and return-to-work plans.
Maintain documentation and ensure workplace procedures support employee health and recovery.
HR Compliance & Policy Development
Ensure HR policies and procedures are up to date with legislative and operational requirements.
Manage incident reporting, misconduct investigations, and compliance documentation.
Continually improve internal processes to support operational efficiency and HR best practice.
About You
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline required.
Postgraduate qualifications or certifications in WHS, Injury Management, or Training & Assessment a plus
AHRI membership or equivalent professional affiliation desired, but not required.
Proven experience in a Human Resources Manager or Senior HR Advisor role within manufacturing, rental, or project-based industries.
Demonstrated experience managing employee relations, payroll interface, injury management, and compliance.
Strong understanding of Australian employment legislation, WorkCover regulations, and return-to-work programs.
Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., Deputy, Xero) highly regarded.
Proficient in workforce planning, data analysis, and HR reporting tools.
High emotional intelligence with the ability to coach and influence across all levels of the business.
Strong time management, with the ability to balance strategic focus and operational execution.
