Position: Ranger Coordinator

Location: Mt Tabor Station

Employment Type: Full Time

About the Role, The Ranger Coordinator leads and supports our ranger team to deliver conservation, land management, and cultural heritage programs. This role involves supervising field operations, ensuring safety and compliance, and working closely with Traditional Owners and partners to protect country and support community initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead, supervise, and support a team of rangers in daily operations and on-the-ground field activities, including weed eradication, fire management, pest control, fencing, and habitat restoration.

· Mentor, train, and develop staff to foster a skilled, motivated, and culturally aware ranger team.

· Plan, coordinate, and implement conservation, land management, and cultural heritage preservation programs, ensuring all fieldwork aligns with best practice.

· Ensure compliance with Work Health & Safety (WHS), environmental, and cultural heritage regulations during field operations and program delivery.

· Build and maintain effective working relationships with Traditional Owners, communities, and partner organisations.

· Manage schedules, resources, equipment, and projects to optimise program delivery, including allocation of tasks for on-the-ground activities.

· Prepare accurate reports, maintain records, and contribute to planning, monitoring, and evaluation of programs and field operations.

· Assist in the preparation of funding applications, project proposals, and stakeholder communications.

· Undertake field operations and program delivery in remote and challenging environments for extended periods or outside standard hours.

Essential Qualifications/Experience

· Relevant tertiary qualifications or extensive experience in natural resource management, conservation, or cultural heritage management.

· Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising teams in field operations.

· Knowledge of environmental, cultural heritage, and WHS legislation and compliance requirements

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including experience liaising with Traditional Owners, government agencies, and stakeholders.

· Ability to prepare reports, manage projects, and maintain accurate records.

· Ability to work in remote and outdoor environments, including fieldwork in challenging conditions.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience

· Experience managing budgets, reporting, and grant funding requirements.

· First aid certification and/or other relevant WHS training.

· Knowledge of GIS mapping, GPS, or field survey technologies.

· Experience working in Aboriginal land management contexts or with Traditional Owner groups.

· 4WD or other specialized vehicle operation certifications.
