About the Role
Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking a passionate and experienced Ranger Program Coordinator to lead the Land & Sea Ranger Program. This operational role is responsible for managing natural and cultural resources, supporting workforce development, and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of program goals across Kowanyama’s land and sea country.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate all aspects of the Ranger Program, including strategic and operational planning.
Manage and develop a high-performing team, fostering a positive workplace culture.
Oversee program budgets, grant applications, and reporting to funding bodies.
Build partnerships with government, research, and community organisations.
Provide technical advice on land, sea, and cultural resource management.
Represent Council and community at meetings, seminars, and conferences.
Support the preservation of cultural and historical knowledge and assets.
About You
Essential:
Degree in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Significant leadership experience, ideally in a Ranger program or similar.
Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience working with Indigenous communities and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
Advanced administration, project management, and computer skills.
Current C Class Driver Licence, Police Clearance, Blue Card, and Yellow Card.
