Gov Recruit is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) within its Digital Services Division (DSD). This role offers the chance to contribute to major ICT initiatives supporting Australia’s agriculture, fisheries, and forestry industries.

Responsibilities

Supporting strategic business engagement and project initiation.

Conducting pre-project analysis and discovery.

Designing, leading, and facilitating workshops.

Producing high-quality, concise and relevant architecture and analysis documentation for digital services.

Working in an Agile and iterative environment – backlog management, PBI development and refinement, facilitation of Agile ceremonies.

Leading and mentoring business analysts.

Essential Skills and Experience

Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Business Analyst, Service Designer or Technical Writer, using Agile techniques.

Proven facilitation and collaboration experience, with recent examples of workshops capturing business requirements.

Strong documentation skills – clear, concise, and relevant for digital services.

Experience in Agile delivery: backlog management, PBI refinement, Agile ceremonies.

Demonstrated success in introducing and maturing Agile practices in delivery teams.

Experience in leading and mentoring business analysts.

Desired Skills and Experience

Extensive use of multiple business analysis techniques and methodologies.

Ability to adapt techniques to suit specific project needs.

Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, D365).

Bonus Skills/Experience

Experience working within Federal Government.

Experience in data analysis, modelling or projects managing scientific/statistical data.

Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI.
