The family office has successfully operated in Australia for well over 150 years with a broad range of business interest, investments, joint ventures and private assets. The Managing Director needs the support of a Company Accountant, in a role where no two days will be the same.
Key tasks shall include:

• Ensuring compliance and reporting for investments, joint ventures and family trusts
• Accurate and timely lodging of IAS, BAS, ASIC and other filings
• Head office payroll, superannuation, accounts payable and receivable
• Bank and credit card reconciliations and payments.
• Intercompany, loan and trust documentation and compliance
• Managing fixed assets, lease payments and planning related decision making
• Ensuring all ASIC and compliance requirements are met for trusts, ATO, insurance and other regulatory bodies
• Production or core management accounts via Xero for direct investments
• Identifying challenges before they arise; planning and showing initiative regarding financial situations, therefore reducing risk.
• Supporting the external CFO and Big4 advisors as needed with detailed information

You will have the experience and maturity to structure your own work, ensuring that reporting and compliance deadlines are met, or that challenges are flagged in advance. CPA/CA qualified, your initiative and capacity to run a ‘surprise-free’ function will be essential.

Exposure to a private SME or within a CPA/CA firm, along with a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude will be well received. The MD is a respectful, energetic yet private individual, so your confidentiality and professionalism will be non-negotiable.

At 0.8 EFT, or 30.4 hours per week, you may prefer four days per week, with a minimum of two days in their CBD office close to Parliament Station, with two working offsite, or perhaps five days per week with six hour days. Remuneration shall be circa $120k - $130k + super pro-rata.
