Capability Leader – Scientific, Operations & Supply Chain

We are currently seeking a Capability Leader to join the People & Performance team at a leading pharmaceutical and manufacturing organisation. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Braeside, Melbourne, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across global Scientific, Operations, and Supply Chain functions.
About the Role
As Capability Leader, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing learning and development initiatives that build technical, compliance, and professional capability across production, engineering, logistics, quality, and R&D teams. You will work closely with site leaders, subject matter experts, and the global capability team to deliver fit-for-purpose learning solutions that align with operational goals and regulatory requirements.
This role operates with a moderate level of autonomy and requires someone who can scope capability needs, develop training content, and make day-to-day decisions about delivery methods, scheduling, and stakeholder engagement. You will also contribute to continuous improvement by embedding Lean principles and supporting leadership development across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver technical and compliance training programs aligned with global frameworks.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to embed Lean thinking and drive process improvement.
- Support onboarding, upskilling, and leadership development initiatives.
- Maintain accurate training records and ensure audit readiness.
- Lead knowledge-sharing initiatives and communities of practice across sites.
- Ensure all learning efforts align with organisational values, compliance standards (GMP, OHS), and People & Performance policies.
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and a relevant tertiary qualification.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in L&D or operational training, ideally in a manufacturing or technical environment.
- Strong understanding of GMP, quality systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience designing and delivering technical development programs.
- Familiarity with LMS platforms (e.g. Reliance) and digital learning tools.
- Previous exposure to Lean systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills.
- A proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused mindset.
