You’ll play a key role in supporting the tax advisory and compliance function across this leading financial services firm. You’ll work closely with senior tax leaders, Finance colleagues, and various business units to ensure tax obligations are delivered on, while maintaining strong governance and compliance standards.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll focus on indirect taxes, reconciliations, and compliance processes, while also supporting audits, regulatory reviews, and projects across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with month-end activities across various business units, with a focus on indirect taxes
• Prepare tax reconciliations and calculations, resolving issues with Treasury & Finance teams
• Support preparation of the Consolidated Tax Return and compliance returns
• Provide tax related insights and analysis to help drive business decisions
• Conduct GL reviews of tax-sensitive accounts to support annual compliance
• Maintain accurate tax documentation to satisfy governance and ATO requirements
• Assist with year-end audit activities and regulatory reviews
• Undertake controls testing in line with TAL’s Risk Management Framework

Your experience:

• Degree in Tax / Accounting (CA/CPA qualification desirable)
• 3–5 years’ experience in a similar tax role, ideally in financial services
• Strong knowledge of Australian tax matters; experience within financial services (banking, insurance, wealth, etc.)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
• Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
• A proactive, problem-solving approach and willingness to learn
