Port Melbourne Medical is currently seeking an experienced medical receptionist for our busy, private billing, GP owned general practice. The role is for either part-time (4 days per week) or full-time (5 days per week). This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and expanding team of friendly and hardworking individuals.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, takes initiative and works well within a team environment, as well as autonomously. We believe in a friendly and welcoming environment for all patients and we want warm and friendly staff who will be the face of the practice.

You will have demonstrated experience in a busy medical practice providing reception and general administrative duties. You will be able to multi-task, have highly developed communication skills combined with an attention to detail and pride in ensuring the clinic runs like clockwork. Excellent computer literacy, especially experience using Best Practice software, would be highly regarded.

About the role

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

· Answering and directing phone calls appropriately

· Greeting patients upon arrival

· Scheduling patient appointments

· Attending to multiple tasks- emails, phone calls, faxes, scanning, etc

· Processing patient accounts

· Ensuring confidentiality and management of patients' needs

· Use of Best Practice medical software

· Provide exceptional care and customer service to patients

· Supporting the clinical and administration team

Skills and experience

The successful applicant must possess the following attributes:

· previous medical reception experience essential

· A minimum of 1-2 years medical reception experience is required

· Prior knowledge of Best Practice software will be advantageous

· Ability to multi task and work calmly in a busy environment

· Team player

· Highly motivated

· Excellent computer and customer service skills

· A warm, professional, can-do attitude

· Excellent articulation and telephone manner

· Strong communication skills

· Exceptional attention to detail

· Punctuality & reliability

· Familiar with Medicare items and billing processes

· Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required
