About the Position
This position plays a key role in the maintenance, protection and enhancement of the City's unique and recognisable character in its parks and gardens, through monitoring, implementing and improving on the parks maintenance programs. This position will lead and work within the Parks Maintenance team, ensuring the successful completion of a range of activities involved in the maintenance and improvement of designated gardens within the City of South Perth.
To be successful in this position you will need to demonstrate:
- Possession of a trade certificate in horticulture and/or substantial practical experience in horticultural activities or general gardening
- Supervisory Certificate and/or relevant experience leading a team.
- Substantial experience in a similar horticulture position.
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative when dealing with complex horticultural problems.
- Proficient knowledge in the use, safe operations and maintenance of a range of horticultural equipment.
- Working knowledge of plants, garden design and maintenance, tree pruning, pest, disease & deficiency identification
- Ability to provide on-the-job training for other Park Maintainers.
- Ability to utilise electronic equipment such as mobile phones, tablets, laptops or computers to complete daily duties.
- Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
- A current National Police Clearance
