Position Title:
Supervisor – Supported Independent Living (SIL)
Reports To:
Service Manager
Position Purpose:
The Supervisor will provide on-the-ground leadership and oversight of Support Workers in SIL services. This role is responsible for conducting daily rotational checks across SIL houses, providing direct supervision, mentoring staff, and ensuring that high-quality, person-centred care is delivered to participants. The Supervisor will act as the primary point of guidance and decision-making for frontline staff during their rotations, ensuring compliance with organisational policies, NDIS Practice Standards, and WHS requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Staff Supervision & Mentoring
Conduct 2-hourly rotational visits across allocated SIL houses.
Provide direct supervision and guidance to Support Workers on shift.
Mentor and support staff to build capacity, skills, and confidence in their roles.
Lead by example, demonstrating best practice in participant support and professional conduct.
Support staff in decision-making during shifts and provide immediate direction when required.
2. Participant Care Oversight
Ensure participants are receiving safe, respectful, and person-centred care.
Oversee and support staff in providing assistance with medication, meal preparation, personal care, and daily living tasks.
Monitor staff adherence to behaviour support plans, care plans, and risk management strategies.
Address concerns or issues raised during shifts promptly and escalate when necessary.
3. Compliance & Quality Assurance
Oversee medication administration practices, ensuring compliance with policies and safe administration guidelines.
Monitor manual handling practices and WHS standards, addressing unsafe practices immediately.
Ensure incident reporting is completed accurately and in line with organisational requirements.
Review and reinforce compliance with NDIS Practice Standards and organisational procedures.
4. Reporting & Communication
Complete detailed supervision reports at each visit, documenting staff performance, participant support, and identified risks.
Report back to Service Managers with updates, escalations, and recommendations.
Communicate effectively with staff to ensure consistency in care and support delivery.
Maintain accurate documentation and records of supervisory activities.
Key Selection Criteria (Skills & Attributes):
Minimum Certificate IV in Disability or relevant qualification (Diploma desirable).
Previous experience in disability services, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role.
Strong knowledge of SIL operations, NDIS standards, and person-centred care principles.
Demonstrated ability to mentor, guide, and develop staff.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
High level of organisational skills and ability to work across multiple sites.
Commitment to workplace health and safety, incident management, and quality care delivery.
Ability to make informed decisions under pressure and provide clear direction to staff.
Other Requirements:
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check & Working with Children Check (if applicable).
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
Flexibility to work across shifts, including weekends and evenings as required.
