We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the small friendly team in our NATA accredited Asbestos Identification laboratory.

Job Description:

Entry level position

Permanent Full-time

Monday - Friday

Based in Newmarket QLD 4051

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, your primary duties would include:

Analysis of bulk building material samples for asbestos fibre identification using stereo microscopy and polarized light microscopy (per AS4964)

Analysis of membrane filters for asbestos fibre counting using phase contract microscopy (per NOHSC3003)

Conduct respirator fit testing

Reporting results of analysis

Calibration of laboratory equipment, equipment maintenance

General report typing, sample logging, filing etc.

Excellent attention to detail, record keeping, organizational and time management skills

Strong focus when undertaking routine and familiar tasks

Able to learn and develop broad technical skills and knowledge base on the job

Engage all stakeholders with positivity and mindfulness

Basic computer & Microsoft Suite literacy

Experience with microscopy and a Certificate/Diploma in laboratory techniques; or equivalent; would be highly desirable but is not essential.
