About the Role
Reporting to the State Manager, the Housing Officer is responsible for delivering high-quality tenancy and property management services while ensuring exceptional customer service to tenants and applicants.
Key Responsibilities
Manage tenancy processes including sign-ups, allocations, transfers, vacant/void properties, and anti-social behaviour
Conduct six-monthly rent reviews, manage arrears, and take remedial action to minimise losses
Carry out regular property and asset inspections
Maintain accurate records and databases, reporting potential issues and hazards in line with procedures
What You’ll Bring
Qualifications and/or training in housing or a related field
Strong understanding of, and sensitivity to, the needs of social housing tenants and applicants
Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Residential Tenancies Act (1997) ACT and Housing Assistance Act (2007)
Experience in housing management or service delivery within community services, particularly in areas such as mental health, domestic and family violence, or drug and alcohol support
Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage a demanding workload
Excellent time management, organisational, and communication skills
A commitment to the values of SVdPSHA and the St Vincent de Paul Society
A current driver’s licence
