About Hepatitis ACT

Hepatitis ACT is committed to improving liver health and reducing the transmission and impact of blood-borne viruses (BBVs) such as hepatitis B and C in the ACT. We provide services including health promotion, point-of-care testing, needle and syringe programs, support services, and community engagement. Our strategic vision is to eliminate hepatitis B and C by 2030 and to lead the way in liver health advocacy, education, and support.

About the Role

The HepLink Project Officer delivers the HepLink program at ACT level, supporting people affected by viral hepatitis to access information, testing, treatment and care. The role combines direct client support, service navigation, data collection, and building strong referral networks. The Project Officer also contributes to national program by working with colleagues across Australia.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a local point of contact (“concierge”) for people affected by viral hepatitis.

Provide information, brief interventions, advocacy, and referrals across multiple access points (phone, email, text, webchat, face-to-face, outreach).

Ensure services are accessible, culturally safe, and stigma free.

Respond to local enquiries, provide advice, and connect clients to services.

Collaborate with the HepLink Nurse Navigator for seamless support.

Build and maintain relationships with health, community and Commonwealth-funded services.

Establish stigma-free service networks and promote referral pathways.

Develop and maintain clear referral pathways for testing, treatment, and support.

Provide warm referrals and track outcomes to improve service navigation.

Support and deliver targeted outreach activities based on local needs.

Promote HepLink and national hepatitis campaigns within the community.

Collect and manage client and program data accurately and securely.

Contribute to program monitoring, evaluation, and quality improvement.

Participate in national HepLink working groups and capacity building initiatives.

Support continuous improvement and integration of new services.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

Tertiary qualifications in health, public health, nursing, community development, AOD or related field.

Minimum 2 years’ experience working with priority populations in health, community, or AOD settings.

Demonstrated experience in project management and/or program delivery in a health, community, or AOD context.

Strong skills in service navigation, referral pathways, and stakeholder engagement.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse communities.

Strong organisational and data management skills.

Previous project or program management experience.

Commitment to cultural safety and reducing stigma/discrimination.

Desirable Skills

Knowledge of viral hepatitis and its health impacts.

Existing connections with affected communities.

Familiarity with the alcohol and other drugs (AOD) sector and inclusive communication practices

Mandatory

Full working rights in Australia.

Current Working with Vulnerable People Check (or equivalent).

Current National Police Check.

Full Australian Driver’s Licence.

Conditions

Classification: SCHADS Award Level 3.3 - 4.1 depending on experience

Hourly rate: $40 – $44 + Salary sacrifice benefits
