We are currently seeking a passionate House Coordinator for our Residential Services. This is an exciting and challenging role where you can make a difference. In this role you will be responsible for coordinating the daily operations of one our Department of Communities and Justice funded Intensive Therapeutic Care Homes. You will work within a therapeutic framework where the young people are able to thrive and become independent. This role is based in Earlwood.
About Stepping Stone House
Stepping Stone House is a not for profit charity that provides accommodation and personal development for children and young people aged 12-24 years old who through no fault of their own find themselves homeless, at risk of homelessness or unable to live at home. It is an accredited out of home care residential service providing medium to long term accommodation across three homes in Sydney. Furthermore, it provides after care support to graduates up to 30 years of age. At Stepping Stone House we encourage personal growth and development of children and young people with the aim of empowering the individual to achieve responsible independence.
Ideal candidate
To be successful in this challenging role – you will need to be hard working, be flexible in your approach, enthusiastic and show empathy, patience and respect for the people you work with. You will need to be a self- starter, be honest in your approach and have passion for working with adolescents.
What you will be doing – Key responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day advice and guidance to staff on the practical aspects of supporting young people and completing the tasks associated with the running of the program in line with the case plan, behaviour support plan and therapeutic model.
Carry out monthly staff supervisions and identify areas of staff development.
Manage the dynamic of the young people – group and individual.
Alongside the therapeutic advisor, ensure staff are using therapeutic models of Attachment regulation and competency and Therapeutic Crises Intervention
Ensure compliance with all case work and monitoring processes that ensure progression of young people through the Independence programs
Management of house and young person budgets in line with financial budgets for the DCJ contract funding models.
Ensure child safety is the top priority in all the work that you do

Essential Criteria
Degree in relevant social sciences (eg social work, psychology). Further relevant qualifications would be desirable. Diploma with equivalent experience will be considered.
Over 2 years’ experience managing Out of Home Care client facing services
Demonstrated evidence of working with young people with complex needs and the strategies used
Demonstrated experience and or understanding of Trauma Informed Care and willingness to work within a therapeutic framework.
Demonstrated skills in negotiation, problem solving, conflict resolution and engagement with the young people to achieve positive outcomes
Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and undertake staff supervision and appraisals.
Knowledge of legislative, governance and accreditation requirements for residential services
In depth understanding of trauma based issues impacting young people in the Out of Home Care
Working with Children certification
Successful team leadership track record
Cost effective planning and operations of staffing rosters, staff training and service delivery in similar business
Effective management of relationships with funding agencies and sponsors
Ability to be on call after hours and on weekends on a rotating roster
Desirable criteria
First aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
