As part of the Medical, Molecular and Forensic Sciences group, you'll join a dedicated team led by the Associate Professor of Microbiology, contributing to industry-funded research in One Health and Antimicrobial Resistance. This work is conducted within the Antimicrobial Resistance and Infectious Diseases (AMRID) Laboratory - a leading research hub focused on tackling antimicrobial resistance in Australia.
Your New Role!
We are seeking a Research Officer to support industry-funded research in One Health Antimicrobial Resistance, focusing on resistant zoonotic pathogens in Australian livestock and wildlife. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting antimicrobial susceptibility testing on bacteria and parasites, including next-generation sequencing
- Assisting in the development of high-throughput robotics protocols for detecting and quantifying antimicrobial resistance
- Collecting, recording, and contributing to the analysis and interpretation of experimental data
This role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative team on research with real-world impact.

This Fixed Term (2 Years) | Full Time (37.5 hours per week) based at our South Street, Murdoch Campus attracts a remuneration of $79,017 - $88,012 (pro rata) plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What you'll bring to the role:
- A tertiary degree in animal science, veterinary science, biotechnology or closely related field or an equivalent combination of qualifications, skills and experience.
- An understanding of both animal and medical health research principles and practices.
- Proven technical proficiency in laboratory procedures, with a strong commitment to maintaining precise and reliable lab records.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and produce clear, concise reports and documentation.
- Advanced analytical capabilities, with a proven ability to interpret complex data and deliver well-structured, insightful reports and documentation.
