You will be responsible for leading a skilled team of tradespeople and ensuring all processes are optimised for efficiency, quality, safety, and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate closely with design, drafting, and project management teams to ensure production aligns with technical specifications.
  • Monitor workflow and address bottlenecks or delays proactively.
  1. Leadership and Staff Management
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of cabinet makers, CNC operators, assemblers, and apprentices.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide training, and foster a culture of safety, quality, and accountability.
  • Oversee hiring and onboarding of workshop staff in collaboration with HR or management.
  1. Quality Assurance and Control

  • Conduct inspections and audits to ensure accuracy, finish quality, and compliance with drawings and client expectations.
  • Resolve production issues swiftly and ensure continuous improvement in output quality.
  1. Equipment and Facility Oversight
  • Ensure all machinery (including CNC routers, edge banders, panel saws, etc.) is maintained and operating efficiently.
  • Liaise with maintenance providers and ensure all WHS protocols are followed.
  • Manage procurement of tools, consumables, and workshop supplies in coordination with procurement or admin teams.
  1. Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with WHS legislation.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings and ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols.
  • Keep accurate records of incidents, maintenance, and compliance checks.
  1. Reporting and Administration
  • Track job progress, labour hours, and material usage; report on productivity and project milestones.
  • Support project costing by providing accurate estimates on labour and materials when required.
  • Use internal software (e.g., production tracking or project management tools) to log updates and production status.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a production management role within a custom joinery, furniture, or fitout manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with a hands-on approach and a focus on team development.
  • In-depth understanding of joinery construction methods, materials, and workshop processes.
  • Experience managing CNC-based workflows and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Solid knowledge of WHS regulations and commitment to workplace safety.
  • Effective communicator with strong problem-solving skills.

Desirable:

  • Trade qualification in Cabinet Making, Carpentry, or equivalent.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing or production optimisation methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ERP/project management software used in manufacturing environments.

What's on Offer:
