About the Role
Are you ready to take the lead in shaping winning strategies for major civil infrastructure projects? Hawthorne Civil is seeking an accomplished Senior Estimator to head our tendering and pricing function. This is your opportunity to influence project success from the outset, working alongside a high-performing pre-contracts team to deliver accurate, competitive, and compelling submissions.

At HC, you’ll work across a diverse portfolio of projects including bridges, rail infrastructure, water treatment plants, and drainage structures—giving you the opportunity to apply your expertise on some of Australia’s most impactful civil infrastructure works.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and submission of detailed tenders and budget proposals.
  
• Develop pricing strategies and drive pre-tender planning sessions.
  
• Conduct accurate quantity take-offs and prepare BOQs to industry standards.
  
• Review and analyse supplier pricing, clarifications, and exclusions.
  
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with subcontractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  
• Visit project sites to assess methodology, risks, and opportunities.
  
• Present clear, well-structured tender reviews to senior leadership.
  
• Support post-tender clarifications, scope changes, and smooth project handovers.
  
• Drive continuous improvement through post-project reviews and innovation in estimating practices.
  

About You
You are a results-driven professional with both technical expertise and a strategic mindset. To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• 7+ years’ experience estimating civil and structural construction projects.
  
• Relevant tertiary qualifications (Civil Engineering or similar).
  
• A proven track record of delivering successful tenders.
  
• Proficiency with Expert Estimation software.
  
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead, influence, and collaborate.
