We are seeking a passionate and driven Operations Coordinator to join our dynamic team. In this critical position, you will play a key role in coordinating the day-to-day operations within our 24/7 Operations Centre based at Jandakot Airport. The role involves ensuring the seamless coordination of aeromedical retrieval taskings, liaising with various healthcare and aviation stakeholders, and supporting operational excellence.

As a valued team member who supports our 24/7 operations, you will need to work different shifts across weekdays, weekends and public holidays on both day and night shifts.

Coordinate flight taskings for medical evacuations and consultations

Liaising with external organisations to arrange patient transfers

Assess crew and aircraft availability, environmental and operational limitations

Work closely with other Coordinators, Doctors, Nurses and Pilots ensure effective solutions to problems

Provide constant communications and updates to crews

Respond to changing situations

Operational administration and support

Roster - 2 days, 2 nights (12-hour shifts), followed by 6 days off.

Knowledge or experience in aviation operations, aeromedical retrievals, or emergency services is highly desirable

Annual salary progression opportunities

Permanent Position

Salary packaging - up to $15,900 per annum for everyday expenses and up to $2,650 per annum on meals and entertainment expenses

About Us

The mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia. Every member of the RFDS WO team contributes to that mission and living our values of showing respect, demonstrating fairness, utilising diversity and being safe. Every year, the RFDS WO provides urgent retrieval for about 10,000 patients in regional WA. A further 10,000 appointments are provided in primary healthcare clinics in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental and mental health care. The RFDS in WA operates five bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Meekatharra. Our 24/7 operations centre at Jandakot Airport coordinates complex logistics for patient retrievals and clinics across the State. We work in partnership with government, business and the community, and are proud to work on Country with Aboriginal medical services and many local service providers.

In 2024, the RFDS is launching a new five-year strategy ‘Above and Beyond’, which will mark an important new chapter in the long Flying Doctor history. The strategy will include a focus on expanding remote health clinics in some of WA’s most vulnerable communities, expanding our profit-for-purpose services, strengthening our workforce, harnessing technology and addressing our environmental sustainability.
