Domestic and Family Violence Specialist worker
Full-time | Fixed-Term Contract until 30 June 2027, contingent on Government funding
The Central Coast Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (CCDVCAS) is seeking an experienced Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Worker to join our supportive team.
This is a 35-hour per week position.
Salary is in accordance with the SCHADS Award. The specific level of remuneration will depend on the successful applicant’s experience and is negotiable.
Additional salary packaging is available.
CCDVCAS is a well established service, operating on the Central Coast for over 30 years. We are seeking a Domestic and Family Violence Specialist worker to join our team.

About the role
As a Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting victims/survivors of Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) to feel safe, informed and supported throughout their journey.
Key Responsibilities include:
Client support and advocacy - Provide trauma informed, client centered support to women experiencing domestic and family violence (DFV). This includes conducting risk and threat assessments, developing and implementing safety plans, offering practical guidance to meet immediate needs, and connecting clients with appropriate services such as accommodation, financial support, counselling, and legal assistance. Actively advocate on behalf of clients with police, courts, and other service providers to ensure their safety and access to resources
Referrals - Respond to DFV referrals received from the police, as well as other government and non-government agencies in a timely manner. Conduct threat assessments to determine clients’ current risk levels and develop safety plans to address immediate safety needs
Court advocacy - attend local courts on ADVO list days to assist clients with navigating the legal process and liaising with court users, solicitors and the police
Collaboration - work closely with NSW police, local courts, legal services, DCJ child protection and community organizations to achieve the best outcomes for clients
This is a dynamic role that requires empathy, resilience and strong advocacy skills. You will be part of a collaborative team dedicated to reducing harm and improving safety for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence

Essential Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate how they meet each of the essential criteria, providing specific examples of relevant skills, experience, and achievements.
Relevant qualifications and/or experience in community services or social work, with a particular focus on DFV
Demonstrated understanding of the gendered nature of Domestic & Family Violence its complexities and consequences
Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with clients in crisis and provide appropriate, trauma-informed support
Demonstrated understanding of the particular needs of and challenges faced by: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, clients from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds, Elderly, people with a Disability.
Demonstrated knowledge of the criminal justice response to domestic and family violence including Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders.
Demonstrated excellent communication skills, with proven ability in negotiation, advocacy, and conflict resolution
Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with the local community to raise awareness of domestic and family violence and promote CCDVCAS services
Proficient in information technology and data entry skills, and the ability to use word processing software including Outlook, Word, Excel, databases, and master online platforms easily
Demonstrated excellent organisational and administrative skills, including maintaining accurate client notes, performing data entry, preparing reports, and managing all administrative duties relevant to the role
Must have current driver’s license and car with full comprehensive insurance.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a Working with Children Check and a National Police Record Check.
Vaccination may be an expectation of the role, particularly if a pandemic or similar public health event occurs. If you are unable to be vaccinated, you will need to provide a medical exemption.
