About the Program

The Moree Bail Accommodation Program (MBAP) provides short-term, safe accommodation and support for young people on bail in Moree. With 24/7 supervision, the program helps young people access services such as education, employment, health and cultural supports, while staying connected to community and Country.

About the Role

Miyay Birray Youth Service is seeking a motivated and compassionate Youth Worker to join the MBAP team. Working closely with young people, families, Elders and community partners, you will provide case management and deliver culturally responsive programs that support young people to make positive changes in their lives.

What You’ll Do

· Build trust and support young people on bail through empathy and respect.

· Work with families, Elders and community to provide culturally safe support.

· Help young people access services such as health, education, employment and cultural programs.

· Advocate for young people with government and community services.

· Keep accurate records and contribute to program activities and reports.

· Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

What We’re Looking For

· Experience working with young people (12–17 years), particularly Aboriginal youth.

· Understanding of the challenges faced by Aboriginal young people and their families.

· Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Basic computer and administration skills.

· Current NSW Driver’s Licence and Working with Children Check.

Desirable

· Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and community issues.

· Experience in case management, youth work, or community services.

Key Accountabilities

· Support program activities and services for young people.

· Work within policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective practice.

· Provide basic admin support, including record-keeping and simple research.

· Assist with planning and coordinating community programs.

· Work with young people, families, and community to ensure services are culturally safe and accessible.

· Take part in training to build your skills and knowledge.

· Maintain safe work practices to protect staff, clients, and property.

· Help monitor and evaluate projects and contribute ideas for improvement.

· Be willing to take part in physical activities with young people.

· Follow good administrative and financial practices.

· Be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

· Travel outside of Moree when required.

Key Challenges

· Suggest improvements to policies and procedures to strengthen service delivery.

· Manage complex situations involving mental health, family challenges, drug and alcohol misuse, disability, or peer influences.

· Advocate strongly for young people, especially when services or agencies are reluctant to engage.

Appointments are subject to

· Reference check.

· National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014.

· Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.

· Mandatory Drug and Alcohol testing.
