Life at Coast Shelter

Coast Shelter is a leading Central Coast not for profit charity assisting families, adults and young people with complex issues arising from their experience of homelessness, abuse and neglect. Our organisation is driven by our mission to deliver person-centred services to people in crisis within our community experiencing homelessness or domestic and family violence.

At Coast Shelter, you'll be joining team members and volunteers whose vision is to help create a community where everyone has a safe place to call home and is empowered to thrive. Our people are innovative professionals who are driven to help make positive change, we are bold with ideas and operate with pace and passion.

The Role

You will be part of our dedicated women & children services team, which operates three shelters and delivers a Domestic & Family Violence Rapid Enhancement Program (DVRE) across the Central Coast. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of the causes and impacts of homelessness, together with an empathic and strengths-based approach to supporting people in our community who may be experiencing crisis or disadvantage.

We are seeking an exceptional Team Leader to lead Coast Shelter’s (DVRE) program on the Central Coast. This pivotal role is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the DVRE program, ensuring the delivery of high-quality case work that supports women and their children to transition into safe, secure, and stable housing.

As a leader, you will provide guidance and support to non-clinical Case Workers through professional development, coaching, and constructive feedback, working closely with the Adult Program Manager to drive service excellence.

All about you

You have a background and passion for working with women and children within homelessness and domestic and family violence services. You bring a client-centred, trauma-informed approach and a demonstrated understanding of case work, including assessment frameworks related to child protection, parenting and family work, family violence, mental health, and drug and alcohol issues. In addition, your strong sector knowledge and connections - particularly with Domestic & Family Violence committees, networks, and advocacy groups - will enable you to strengthen collaboration, share best practice, and amplify Coast Shelter’s impact in the community.

To be considered for the position you must be able to address the essential criteria below:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications at Diploma level or higher in a related discipline, along with at least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role, ideally working with women & children escaping domestic violence
