Great opportunity for a Leading Hand Carpenter to join a strong building contractor based in Brisbane who pride in delivering quality multi-res projects across the townhouse and unit space. With approximately 100 permanent members if staff in QLD this contractor delivers new build projects to $70M across typically and has been trading successfully for over 30 years.

In this position, reporting to the Site Manager you’ll work as a hands-on Leading Hand carpenter playing a key support role to the Management and day-to-day running of the site. Your initial project will be joining the site team on a $30M, 60 unit townhouse project located in Rochedale.

In this position, your duties will be split between management and hands on duties including;

Site inductions and toolbox talks

WHSE / site safety management

Read and work off construction plans

Communication with and management of sub-contractors and trades on site

Construct/create access ways

Identify, rectify and manage defect works

Use initiative to keep job running smoothly in the absence of the Site Manager

Hands-on duties – labour, carpentry and operating machinery such as forklifts, Manitou, EWP, Material Hoist etc excavators etc.

To be suitable for the role it is anticipated that you will possess the following;

A carpentry trade or labouring background background

Will have built up some strong supervisory skills as a Leading Hand

Will be ‘well ticketed’ on manitou, forklifts, EWP, Material Hoist

Multi-units and medium density town-house project experience is highly desirable.

Ideally a knowledge of the full project life cycle from structures and finishes.

Possess a ‘can-do’ positive attitude and happy to work on the tools from time-to-time

Career focused and a desire to progress through to Site Foreman.
