About the Role

POSITION COMMENCING START OF OCTOBER

This is a hands-on leadership position, with a minimum of 75% of your time spent on the tools. As a Leading Hand Carpenter, you will set the standard for quality workmanship while coordinating daily site operations and supporting the Construction Manager in achieving project outcomes.

You’ll combine practical carpentry expertise with on-site leadership, ensuring smooth progress and high standards across all stages of construction.

Work-Life Balance: This role operates on a 4-day work week – Monday to Thursday, 4 x 10-hour days (6:15am–4:45pm) with one unpaid 30-minute lunch break per day. Fridays are a permanent non-working day, giving you a guaranteed three-day weekend every week.

Key Responsibilities

Lead by example with high-quality carpentry work on heritage and character homes.

Supervise and coordinate on-site activities, trades, and subcontractors.

Interpret and execute architectural and engineering plans with precision.

Oversee works from site set out through to handover defects, ensuring quality at every stage.

Maintain the highest standards of site safety and workmanship.

Manage materials, schedules, and day-to-day site requirements.

Track tasks and timesheets using Deputy, and support project tracking through Monday.com.

Communicate regularly with the Construction Manager and Director, providing accurate updates.

What You’ll Need

Certificate IV in Building and Construction (mandatory).

5+ years of renovation experience post-apprenticeship (character homes highly regarded).

Complete construction knowledge — from site set out through to handover defects.

Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.

Previous experience with Monday.com is a highly regarded advantage.

Tech-savvy, with confidence in using project management software.

Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.

High attention to detail and pride in producing quality carpentry.
