Exciting opportunity to join one of Melbourne's largest municipalities.

Some of Brimbank's key attractions include its state-of-the-art performance space – the 'Bowery Theatre' in St Albans; and the worldclass 'Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre' which features a 24-hour gym, waterslides, and heated Olympic sized swimming pools, along with a six green star rating for its innovative and sustainable design.
Brimbank is continuously growing, with many transformational infrastructure projects about to break ground. A key focus of the coming years will be working with the State and Federal Governments to establish Melbourne Airport Rail; to complete redevelopment of Sunshine and Albion Stations; and the realisation of the Sunshine Precinct Masterplan which will Sunshine transformed into a CBD, vastly increasing local jobs, housing, businesses, services and tourism to provide for the many tens of thousands of people living, working and travelling through the Brimbank.
The municipality has a large asset base, and has a broad range of opportunities to innovate, plan and deliver to better meet its community's needs.

Do you have the vision and leadership to inspire a talented team and deliver impactful strategies and projects that enhance our community? If so, we want you to lead our Urban Design Unit and help us bring Brimbank's urban environment to life.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Parks & Public Realm we are seeking an experienced leader who can guide and empower a dedicated team to prepare plans, guidelines, and designs for town centres, activity centres, public realm assets, streetscapes, and active transport infrastructure. Your expertise will play a critical role in creating a safe, sustainable, and high-quality urban environment that reflects the needs of Brimbank's diverse community.
To be considered you will have:
- Professional tertiary qualifications in Urban Design, Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architectureor relateddiscipline.
- Excellent leadership skills and experience in leading, managing and motivating a multi-disciplinary team in delivering services, programs and projects.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills, including experience in negotiating outcomes and influencing stakeholders in a complex and dynamic operating environment.
- Demonstrated skills, experience, knowledge and understanding of strategy and policy development, consultation, analysis, evaluation, and implementation as it applies to open spaces and urban forest.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in the planning, programming and project management of capital works, including development of project briefs and business cases.
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure in a complex environment to achieve agreed outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work in accordance with, and champion, the Brimbank values and behaviours.
- Current Victorian driver's licence
