Position overview
As the Statutory Planning Coordinator, you will lead the statutory planning team in its delivery of services to customers in the Shire, facilitate development approvals and pre-application meetings and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the team.
In this role you will:

  • Ensure the service provided by the Statutory Planning Team is undertaken in an efficient and effective manner within set timeframes.
  • Mentor and assist your team, providing guidance in their role and its responsibilities and ensuring there are structures in place so they can effectively perform their duties.
  • Maintain a customer service focused culture to achieve the delivery of a quality service and to enhance the positive image of Council.
  • Prepare detailed reports and project manage complex or significant planning permit applications, including the representation of Council at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

What we require from you

  • Relevant qualification in Town Planning or a related field and a minimum of seven years’ experience in land use planning or a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with service users and all other relevant stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement legislation and procedures related to the functions of the Statutory Planning team.
  • Ability and capacity to make independent and unassisted decisions.
  • Ability to work with, assist and mentor other less experienced professionals.
  • Ability to lead, innovate and adapt to change.
  • Ability to work from the office 3 days per week.

If successful, you will need to undertake a police check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, with the expectation that you attend the office 3 days per week. Relocation assistance may be considered for the right applicant.
