The Role

We are looking for a Principal Design Engineer to join our team of dynamic engineers and surveyors.

This position supervises the Design Engineers. The position reports directly to the Coordinator Survey and Design.

The Survey and Design unit is responsible for the design of the City of Ballarat Capital Works Program civil infrastructure projects. These projects include road construction, roundabouts, intersections, and traffic management treatments.

About You

The successful candidate will have experience in Cad programs and be proficient in office-based programs, along with excellent communication and written skills.

You will have extensive experience in Civil Design. Experience within a Local/State organisation would be favourable but not required.

Key Selection Criteria

• 4-year degree qualification in Civil Engineering and have Registered Professional Engineers (RPEng) status in accordance with the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019.
• Minimum 15 Years experience and expertise in civil infrastructure design particularly roads, traffic management items and drainage.
• Expertise in the operation of computer-aided design software – Civil site design, Autocad and other engineering software packages, including traffic management software and Council's IT Software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to supervise and lead a team and work as a team member.
• A strong positive culture and customer focus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to champion, model and promote the corporate values.
