Truck Workshop Supervisor - Miranda, NSW

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic who is hands-on, organised, and eager to step into leadership. You’ll begin on the tools, maintaining and repairing a modern fleet, while gradually taking on supervisory responsibilities as the workshop grows.
Progression Path: This is a long-term opportunity for a self-starter ready to take ownership of the workshop, set up systems, and prepare for the arrival of additional mechanics (expected early 2026). You’ll start on the tools, and over 6–12 months transition into a workshop lead or supervisor role
Duties
- Service, repair and diagnose faults on a mixed fleet of rigid trucks – primarily Isuzu, with some Scania prime movers, trailers, and quarry equipment
- Carry out light engine, brake, suspension, hydraulic, and general mechanical work on a modern fleet of vehicles
- Ensure vehicles meet roadworthy and ADR compliance standards
- Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and all inspection documentation
- Manage job cards and workshop systems for tracking work and compliance
- Monitor parts usage and coordinate timely ordering with suppliers
- Promote a safe, clean, and well-organised workshop environment
- Provide support and guidance to junior staff
- Liaise with operations manager to prioritise work and communicate vehicle readiness
- Step into leadership tasks as required – job scheduling, quality
control, and coordinating the day-to-day team workflow
About the Workshop & Fleet:
- Fleet currently includes ~15 rigid trucks (mainly Isuzu)
- Some involvement with Scania prime movers on basic repairs (on service packages with dealers for majority of work)
- Includes some trailers (doubles), quarry trucks, and loaders
- Fitters available from sister business during peak periods
- Brand new facility with all new equipment, truck hoists, and systems currently being built.
- Ideal if the successful applicant wants input into the workshop and required equipment
Skills and experience
- Trade-qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic with strong diagnostic and repair skills.
- Experience with Isuzu trucks and/or hydraulic systems highly desirable.
- Exposure to Scania prime movers, trailers, and quarry equipment is an advantage.
- Confident managing paperwork, service logs, and compliance requirements (AIS licence a bonus).
- Organised, reliable, and hands-on, with the ability to step into supervisory duties over time.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to support and guide a growing team.
- Tyre fitting experience desirable but not essential.
- Previous supervisory or team lead experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
