Are you passionate about helping children and families build positive connections? Do you have a knack for creating a safe and supportive environment where everyone can thrive? We are looking for a dedicated full-time Family Contact & Support Worker to join our team and make a real difference in the lives of children and young people in Out-of-Home Care (OOHC).

About the Role

In this vital role, you will provide crucial casework support to children in OOHC. You'll be the friendly face who transports children to and from family contact visits, ensuring a positive and safe experience for everyone involved. Your creativity will shine as you facilitate engaging activities and provide guidance to help families connect and build stronger bonds.

A key part of your work will be collaborating with caseworkers, providing clear, non-judgmental reports after each visit and quickly alerting them to any significant issues. You will be a trusted, caring presence who models positive communication and interaction, all while maintaining strict confidentiality and ensuring the well-being and safety of the child is the top priority.

About You

You are a compassionate and organised professional with a strong understanding of child development and the unique challenges faced by children in OOHC. You are a natural at building rapport and have excellent communication skills, enabling you to mediate and resolve disputes effectively while always maintaining a supportive environment.

Key skills and criteria we're looking for:

  • A Certificate II in Community Services or equivalent experience.
  • A current, unrestricted driver's licence.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong computer literacy for preparing reports and maintaining records.
  • Well-developed negotiation, mediation, and dispute resolution skills.
  • The ability to support parents and family members who may lack the confidence to connect with their children.
  • A well-developed understanding of the issues facing OOHC children and young people.
