Salary: $68,864.00 - $85,000.00 pa plus superannuation

GMP is a progressive meat processing business owned and operated by the Barton family in regional New South Wales, Australia. The plant is conveniently located halfway between Sydney and Melbourne on the Hume Highway in the beautiful foothills of the Snowy Mountains which is a prime lamb growing region. GMP has long been committed to the region and its people, innovation, and the meat processing industry. The business has recently completed an exciting expansion project to increase annual production capacity, export certification, and increased automation. With the plant’s increased capacity and the spring lamb flush, we are seeing sustainable increased numbers flow through the plant - now’s the time to join the team!

We are seeking to fill various positions within our business with Skilled Meat Workers (Slaughterman including Halal, Boners, Slicers). All positions at GMP require adherence to quality assurance standards and workplace health and safety as first priority.

Key Responsibilities

Slaughterman

· Responsible for the slaughter and dressing of lambs - performed under strict Animal Welfare Guidelines

· Leg Strips, Y-Cut, Clearing Shoulders, Punching, Pull Down, Removing the Bung, Gutting Out and Plucking Out

· Knife Handling

· Implement humane and ethical treatment of animals after slaughtering

· Following correct practices, when there is a non-halal eligible product

· Working to chain speed

· Report quality related issues to the Quality Control Manager

· Ensure compliance to all GMP Quality policies and procedures, standards, and standard operating procedures for manufacture.

· Ensure equipment and work area cleanliness is maintain to GMP standards

· Halal slaughterman to perform above duties in accordance with religious customs

Boners

· Responsible for consistently meeting customer specifications and cut-plan requirements

· Boning meat products as illustrate on the daily cut plan

· Boning legs, boning shoulders, boning loins and racks, and aitch boning

· Meeting customer specifications by capturing yield requirements

· Working to chain speed

· Report quality related issues to the Quality Control Manager

· Ensure compliance to all GMP Quality policies and procedures, standards, and standard operating procedures for manufacture.

· Ensure equipment and work area cleanliness is maintain to GMP standards

Slicers

· Responsible for consistently meeting customer specifications and cut-plan requirements

· Preparing primals, loin-deboner, membrane skinner, general knife work

· Meeting customer specifications by following daily cut plans and meeting yield requirements

· Knife handling work to fulfill slicing task

· Working to chain speed

· Report quality related issues to the Quality Control Manager

· Ensure compliance to all GMP Quality policies and procedures, standards, and standard operating procedures for manufacture.

· Ensure equipment and work area cleanliness is maintain to GMP standards

Qualifications/Skills Required:

· Certificate 1 or Compulsory Secondary Education OR relevant work experience may substitute for formal qualifications

· Nine (9) months to two (2) years’ previous relevant work experience in a meat processing environment, depending on qualifications held (if any)

· A commitment to working safely

· Good communication skills and the ability to get along with others in a multicultural environment

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
