Job description:

The Kidney Regeneration Group at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI) is seeking a highly motivated Research Officer with expertise in kidney organoids to join our dynamic team within the Stem Cell Medicine Theme.

In this exciting role, you will contribute to cutting-edge kidney bioengineering research using technologies such as 3D bioprinting and microfluidics, aiming to enhance stem cell-derived kidney tissue for future therapies. Working under the supervision of Dr Jessica Vanslambrouck, you'll gain hands-on experience in innovative techniques, collaborate with leading scientists, and produce high-impact research.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Generating high-calibre research data and communicates data during laboratory meetings.
  • Conducts ethical research under the guidance of the supervisor at the highest level of integrity and in line with the Australian Code for Responsible Conduct of Research and MCRI policies.
  • Follows standard operating procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Maintains accurate and orderly digital record keeping and data storage.
  • Is aware of, and adherence to, MCRI policy on Intellectual Property/Material Transfer Agreements/Contracts/Clinical and Public Health Outcomes.
  • Participates in opportunities for translation and commercialisation.

What we need from you:

  • PhD in a relevant scientific discipline
  • Hands-on experience with kidney organoids and pluripotent stem cells
  • Skills in bioengineering methods (e.g., 3D bioprinting, microfluidics)
  • Strong molecular biology and microscopy skills
  • Proven track record in scientific communication and publications
  • Collaborative, organised, and committed to high-quality research
