About the role
Council is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to join our Development Assessment Services team, bringing expert technical advice and leadership to a broad portfolio of development projects.
Reporting to the Team Leader Development Engineer, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assess and report on engineering aspects of development applications and construction certificates
- Provide expert advice on Council’s Development Control Plans and relevant engineering standards
- Mentor junior staff and act as team leader when required
- Represent Council in Land and Environment Court proceedings and provide technical evidence
- Oversee the checking and approval of engineering designs associated with development applications, construction certificates and subdivisions
- Respond to public and stakeholder enquiries with clarity, professionalism, and authority
Qualifications, Skills & experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience with development engineering matters
- Proven ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- High-level written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of local government and environmental legislation
