HR manager 12-month fixed term $145k plus super ideally looking for a candidate with gov experience.
Your new company
We are currently working with a government agency who are looking for a new HR manager to join their team for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The agency supports approximately 130 staff and fosters a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture. It is committed to continuous improvement, innovation, and delivering high-impact public programs.
Your new role
The role encompasses both strategic and operational responsibilities, including workforce planning, employee engagement, performance management, learning and development, and employee relations. It also ensures that frameworks, policies, and procedures are compliant with standards and support best practice across the organisation.
- Provide leadership and continuous improvement to the HR function and broader staff base.
- Deliver expert, compliant, and contemporary HR advice across a range of functions, including:
- Cultural change
- Performance management
- Learning and development
- Staff wellbeing
- Recruitment and retention
- Employee relations
- Workforce analytics
- Lead the development and implementation of best practice HR policies, systems, and processes.
- Provide evidence-based, legislatively compliant advice to support decision-making for senior leadership, governance bodies, and committees.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in HR practices to meet evolving organisational needs.
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience working for the NSW federal or state government
- Demonstrated ability to lead with a results-oriented, agile, and hands-on approach, driving meaningful cultural change within complex organisational environments.
- Proven track record in strategic human resource management, encompassing workforce planning, talent acquisition, remuneration, training and development, employee relations, and performance management.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the capacity to influence and engage senior stakeholders effectively.
- Strong commitment to integrity and professionalism, with experience navigating politically sensitive contexts and fostering collaborative relationships across all levels of an organisation.
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, public sector frameworks, and emerging HR trends, with the ability to proactively identify and manage organisational risks.
- Applicants must be Australian citizens. Permanent residents in the process of acquiring citizenship may also be considered.
