This is a hands-on role in a busy, quality-driven restaurant working with a team of young, dedicated hospitality professionals. As Sous Chef at Longplay Bistro, you’ll play a key role in both the day-to-day running and the ongoing development of our kitchen. You’ll lead by example in service, take responsibility for staff training, and contribute to menu development and kitchen operations. You will supervise and maintain kitchen standards in the absence of Head Chef. Our preference is for someone with grill experience, but this can be trained if necessary.

What We’re Looking For

2+ years experience as a Sous Chef or strong CDP ready to step up

Background in modern European or seasonal bistro-style food

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

High standards of organisation, cleanliness, and consistency

Experience managing a team in a busy kitchen environment

Solid knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and allergen awareness

Reliability

Calmness and kindness under pressure

Key Responsibilities

Support and stand in for the Head Chef when required

Lead, train, and motivate junior chefs and kitchen staff

Maintain excellent food quality, consistency, and presentation

Oversee prep and service across all sections of the kitchen

Assist with seasonal menu planning and dish development, specials

Ensure food hygiene and safety standards are maintained (HACCP knowledge essential)

Manage stock control, ordering, and waste reduction

Contribute to a positive, respectful kitchen culture
