• Position Title: Senior Aboriginal Social Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Support Worker -Youth
• Duration: Full-time, Fixed term until 30 June 2028
• Base Salary: $80,269 to $87,712 p.a.

This position is identified for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is intended to constitute a special measure under section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and section 57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1996 (NT).

WHO ARE WE?

Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation committed to providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli Rreung (Greater Darwin) Region in the Northern Territory.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior SEWB Support Worker will work in partnership with a multidisciplinary team to support youth to improve their social and emotional well-being. This role is integral to our commitment to delivering holistic health services and provide culturally safe and trauma informed support that promotes wellbeing and links youths with the SEWB support they need. A key component of the Senior SEWB Support Worker is supporting youth diversion initiatives aimed at reducing contact with the justice system.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Provide case and through-care management to clients referred by the Department of Corrections order to participate in a youth diversion program.
• Support a case load of youth diversion participants for up to 6 months while accessing diversion programs.
• Participate in restorative conferencing to DDHS Clients in collaboration with NT Police and Department of Corrections
• Supporting young people in making victim apologies in culturally appropriate, safe and respectful, ways
• Supporting clients skill development and re-engagement in education, training, or employment
• Other duties as required, consistent with skills and experience, as directed by the relevant member of DDHS
• Support clients to strengthen cultural connections as a foundation for healing and growth.

Essential

Desirable

• Experience working in a community services program or community justice program.
• Certificate qualifications in Community Services or equivalent.

EMPLOYMENT IS SUBJECT TO

• Willing to undergo a Police Check.
• Ability and willingness to obtain a Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
• Current driver's licence.
• Current CPR certificate or the preparedness to gain one within 6 months of commencement.
• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or an exemption as listed on the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) be submitted.
