The Opportunity
We have a new opportunity for a Workshop Supervisor to join our VIC team. We are seeking a motivated, safety-focused, and hardworking individual with a positive can-do attitude.
Your tasks and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Inspect, maintain, service, and repair traffic management equipment, including portable traffic lights, variable message signs (VMS), CCTV units, light towers, barriers, and more.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic faults, performing both minor and major repairs as required.
Conduct damage inspections on returned equipment, prepare reports with photo evidence, and submit to the Operations team within required timeframes.
Prepare and assemble equipment for hire, including calibration and programming of electronic devices such as VMS boards and traffic light controllers.
Perform routine equipment testing, Test & Tag, and safety checks to ensure all assets are ready for dispatch and compliant with standards.
Assist with yard duties, including loading/unloading trucks, preparing steel, concrete, and water-filled barriers, and maintaining a safe and efficient workspace.
Maintain accurate inventory and stock records, organise spare parts and consumables, and report shortages to management.
Support the dispatch, towing, delivery, and installation of hire equipment on-site, including conducting final inspections at drop-off and pick-up locations.
Provide professional customer service and communication, escalating concerns where needed and representing RPM Hire in a professional manner.
Assist with breakdown services by diagnosing issues, providing phone support, and attending site to carry out repairs, including occasional after-hours callouts (with additional pay or time in lieu as applicable).
Travel occasionally to support interstate branches, providing technical assistance, equipment servicing, and training support when required.
Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment, undertaking pre-start checks, hazard identification, and promoting safe work practices in line with company policies.
What You Will Bring:
A strong commitment to safe working practices and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures.
A valid car licence (towing experience is valued but not essential – full training provided).
At least 1 year of experience in a similar role is preferable.
Mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic knowledge/background is desirable but not essential.
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot faults in equipment.
Strong problem-solving skills with a positive, can-do attitude.
High attention to detail in inspections, reporting, and record keeping.
Good organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Clear and professional communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, management, and customers.
Initiative and flexibility to work both independently and as part of a team.
