About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Business Development Manager to join our growing team, based remotely in Sydney and covering a potential client-based across NSW. This role will combine strengths in business development with the ability to understand surface-level technical and financial information in order to qualify clients.
Your core focus will be to:
Identify and engage new business opportunities throughout NSW.
Build networks with referral partners, technical professionals, and industry groups.
Conduct meetings and presentations with prospective clients/firms to assess their business activities and potential eligibility for R&D tax and government incentive programs.
Gather key technical and financial information through structured client discussions.
Qualify prospective clients based on program criteria before seamlessly handing over to our specialist consulting team for full project delivery.
Maintain ongoing account management and nurture long-term client relationships.
The role will be primarily remote, with regular travel throughout NSW and periodic trips to our Brisbane Head Office for team meetings, collaboration, and training.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for candidates who have a blend of business development capability and technical acumen. You will ideally:
Have experience in business development, sales, or account management within a technical, financial, or professional services environment.
Be capable of discussing technical projects (engineering, software, science, manufacturing processes, etc.) with business owners, technical teams, and senior executives.
Demonstrate strong skills in identifying client needs, gathering structured information (technical descriptions, project objectives, financial details), and interpreting eligibility criteria.
Possess excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Be proactive, organised, and self-motivated, capable of working autonomously while staying connected to our broader national team.
Be adaptable and willing to learn and apply technical program knowledge (full training on R&D tax program criteria and methodology will be provided).
Prior experience in government grants, R&D consulting, or working with technical projects is highly desirable but not essential.

Location: Sydney-based with travel throughout NSW and to Brisbane. *Please note that while this is a 'remote' opportunity it requires a Sydney location for client visitation as required and periodic trips to the Brisbane-based Head Office.
Remuneration: $100,000 base salary + uncapped OTE performance commission, added allowances for communication and transport.
